In fact, I have plans to add discussion section to each lesson where every registered user can leave a comment, point to an error and so on. Stay tuned, it's in the list of future improvements!  Grin

I think it would be nice if the site wouldn't automatically log you out as quickly as it does. It seems like after 10 minutes or so of doing nothing it logs you out already, which is a bit annoying.

I would like to see the stressed syllable marked in the word lists. It would be much faster than to start the audio-version.

It seems like a need for transcription for each word. At this moment we can do only transliteration for some languages but transcription is much more difficult operation. I am keeping my eyes open and as soon as I find some program (or programs) that provides transcription for different languages I'll embed it to the site.
I don't think you need a transcription to mark stress, it would be enough to underline the syllable or make it bold. At least for me that would be enough. But if I understand it right, you are working on integrating audio in the games, and that would also solve the problem.

Yes, it was 10 minutes. I changed it to 20 minutes. It's a matter of memory, you know - if I make it too high I may run out of memory on the server.

But how do I know for an arbitrary word from an arbitrary language which syllable to underline?

Yes, this is right. It should come in a couple of weeks.

I see, I hadn't thought about that. Well, thanks.

You don't, of course. You'd need people who do know the language to indicate it for each word. Which is a lot of work, so the solution with the audio is probably better. Smiley

Михаил, я тут добавляла слова в свой урок и описалась малек, можно поправить, так как я сделала их public
Арабския язык, тема Обучение читать/счет/бугалткр - это я написала  Embarrassed

I think this could become a really useful site as more people become members and generate lessons.  Thinking ahead, I think you're going to need some more sophisticated lesson searching tools.  These might rely on the lesson writer making further classifications, but I suspect you would need something more future-proof.  Sorry that I can't be more helpful, but perhaps other members might have some ideas?

Hi Voices, thank you for the suggestion. Yes, searching capabilities are extremely important. There should be ways to better categorize your lessons and, I think, tag them. And a better, more advanced, search box.

I'm back after not having used this site for a while,  Smiley and I have a few suggestions for improving.

First of all, the cyrillic і is on the wrong place in the alphabetic order. Words starting with an і are now placed at the end of the list, but they should come after и. I don't know if this is something you have any influence on, though, or if it's done automatically.

When editing a word in one of your lessons, there are now three buttons: Save, Delete, and Back to lesson. I think it would be practical to add a "Save and back to lesson" button, it saves you loading the page and clicking another button.

On the Lesson Information pages, there is a "Back to Lesson List" button, which in Dutch reads, "Terug naar Lessen Lijst". It should be "Terug naar Lessenlijst". Also, "Les Informatie" on the same page should be "Lesinformatie".

I think it would be useful to have a possibility to select words or entire lessons and copy them to a new lesson. That way it's possible to practise just some words from lessons that others made, when you don't want to learn all of the words in these lessons (sometimes not all words seem as useful, or I already know part of them). And more importantly, it saves a lot of work if you want to use the same list of words for an other combination of languages, too. (Say, I made a Dutch-Ukrainian lesson on a certain subject, and want to make a Dutch-Russian lesson on the same subject, then I won't need to type all the Dutch words again. And then when I have made these two lessons, it would be easy to combine them and make a Russian-Ukrainian lesson too without having to type a single word.)

And last but not least, it would be nice to have checkboxes next to the words on the Lesson Information page, so it would be possible to delete several words at the same time, instead of one by one.

Hi Dorenda,

Thanks you so much for your suggestions. In fact, this is the direction we are working now - improvements of the lesson detail page. We are adding abilities to add/modify/delete words more quickly, on the same page.

Regarding the sorting order in Ukrainian - at this moment we can't do anything with that, it's all the database's functionality. We'll do a research to see what can be done with that.

Hi, I've found some errors in the following German-Russian sections:

body parts section:

it must be щиколотка for 'Knöchel' not пятка; пятка is heel, in German 'Ferse'.
furthermore there is a picture with a belly/abdomen which is 'Bauch' in German, not 'Magen'. 'Magen' is stomach.
So I think there must be 'Bauch' for живот. Otherwise if there should be a stomach depictured, it is желудок for 'Magen',

and

the russian spoken voice of back/spine, in German 'Rücken', says 'Pina', but it must be 'Spina'

movement, directions sections:

'prellen' (engl. to bounce) isn't подпрыгивать. подпрыгивать is 'springen','hüpfen' (engl. to jump)
'prellen' is ушибить.

вести (машину) isn't 'ansteuern' (engl. to head for). This word you say for ships for example, in russian this is держать курс.
вести (машину) is '(Auto) fahren' (engl. to drive (a car))

greets

Hi guys,

It seems that in some cases the errors are hard to correct because if it is corrected in one pair of languages it becomes incorrect in another pair of languages. For example if I correct a Russian word in Russian-German lesson, it's counterpart in Russian-English lesson will become incorrect. Currently I am thinking of a possible solution that would be general enough. So bear with us - and as usual we'll come up with an improvement as soon as possible.  Smiley

I noticed the portuguese lessons are oriented to european portuguese. I suggest that you create a separation between the Brazilian version, because most portuguese students learn Br portuguese.
