Hi there,

On the English to Russian lesson "1.ders", there are a number of duplicate entries.
This causes the lesson to repeat the same words over and over... too many times.

The words are:
also, so, too                     : 2 entries for this one.
morning, in the morning  : 2 entries for this one.
there                               : 3 entries for this one.
what                               : 2 entries for this one.

Please fix this lesson if you can, as the duplicate entries make this lesson almost
unusable.

Thanks, Del

Hi there,

I thought you were going to fix this lesson?  It still shows all the duplicate entries?

Please bear with us Smiley

Initially it was thought that this kind of repetition provides a way to handle synonyms. I still think that this is a OK, provided that we programmed the games in a way so that they take into account repeating entries. But now that you gave us this feedback we need to find a general way to fix this lesson and similar lessons.

So give us some more time (we also have a vacation season here at iPoly Smiley )

Oops! I've just realized that this lesson that you are talking about http://www.internetpolyglot.com/lesson1387 is a custom user's lesson, i.e. it wasn't created by us (Internet Polyglot team). It was created by a fellow user. Smiley

You see - everybody can create a lesson and make it public, some of those lessons will have errors.

What you can do is to grade this lesson and leave your comment when you grade it - then the author of this lesson will see it and hopefully fix it.

I guess, from our part it would be good to provide a better, more convenient way of grading lessons, including notifying authors via email when their lessons are graded.

All in all, if grading will not help and in a week or so the lesson is not fixed, let us know and I will simply make this lesson non-public.

It poses another question: how to tell a difference between Internet Polyglot's own lessons and users custom lessons. Here are the difference of Internet Polyglot's lessons:

1) they have pictures (and audio for some languages); custom users' lessons have neither pictures nor audio (we have it in plans but not as a highest priority)
2) their id is "negative", for example -2104301010
3) they are in the beginning of lesson list

Ok, I see....

Hmm, you can't fix a users lesson for them?

One more thing, I was thinking of putting up a lesson, but you say
user lessons can't have sound??  That is terrible in my opinion, listening
to the correct pronunciation is very important, at least to me.  Hmm,
maybe if the users can't put the sounds in, your team can add the
correct sound to the users lesson?

Hmm, you can't fix a users lesson for them?

Technically I could but I wouldn't because a) I am not expert in every language; b) I looked at this particular lesson (well, I know Russian and Englihs) and it doesn't seem to me too bad; c) if it was too bad I would simply make it private.

Yet. We have in plans adding this feature.

  Hmm,

correct sound to the users lesson?

It would be too difficult. Don't think of us as a huge corporation with lots of staff. We are just a group of enthusiasts that create this site at our free time.

It's better to give a way to add sounds to users themselves - sooner or later we'll add this feature.

And rest assured that we are dedicated to constant improvement of the site.

Yes, the lesson is fine, but, the duplicate entries mess it up.
Those 4 repeat way too often.

All you need to do is delete the extra (duplicate) entries.
No need to actually change the content of the lesson.
